Union / Worker Co-op Workshop @ the Eastern Conference for Workplace Democracy
Labor union worker co-op projects have spread rapidly and widely around the country since United Steel Workers developed their partnership with Mondragon in 2009.  Nevertheless, many people remain unaware of this model, which holds much promise for both worker co-ops and labor unions.
Presenters:
  • Mary Hoyer, Facilitator:  Union Co-ops Council of US Federation of Worker Co-ops
  • Kristen Barker: Cincinnati Union Co-op Initiative; 1worker1vote.org
  • Phil Amadon: Blue Green Alliance
  • Kevin O’Brien: WorX Printing Co-op; United Steel Workers Local 2936
  • Abdi Buni:  Union Taxi Co-op; Communication Workers of America Local 7777

ECWD provides practical tools, networking, and strategies for worker-owners, union members, technical assistance providers, community organizers, and scholars. Under the theme Connecting for Impact, the 2015 conference will emphasize the critical connections that are being made around the Eastern U.S. and beyond, strengthening a movement that is growing at a rapid pace and creating a more just economy. Conference runs July 10-12, 2015

The early registration deadline is May 27, and financial aid is available.
