Sustaining Jobs & The Community-Cooperative Solar Revolution | Good Jobs Green Jobs 2015 Conference
April 13, 2015 @ 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm
Michael Peck will be moderating on a panel about cooperative solar businesses at the Blue Green Alliance’s Good Jobs Green Jobs Conference on April 13th in Washington, D.C.
Sustaining Jobs & The Community-Cooperative Solar Revolution
The fastest growing solar application is residential rooftop solar—even in rural communities. Nationwide, community solar is a key to expand markets for distributed energy, including for many apartment and condominium residents and other customers unable to install solar arrays on roofs or properties.
For every one person who can install solar on their home or business, on average three cannot. The majority of co-ops deploying solar serve territories where the median income is below the national average and many were once considered unsuitable for solar. National Cooperative Bank is one of the nation’s leading solar finance providers. Purchasing co-ops, like Amicus Solar Cooperative, worker owned cooperatives like Namaste Solar, and Sustainergy—a union co-op—stand poised to take advantage of these trends and bring family-sustaining jobs to hosting communities in the process. Join us to hear how.
